Mexico kick off their preparations for the FIFA World Cup with an international friendly against Wales at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

Coach Juan Carlos Osorio's side face a tough test in Russia as they have been drawn against Germany, Sweden and South Korea in Group F.

Mexico's first game in the tournament will be against the world champions on June 17, so El Tri will need to prepare well if they are to get their campaign off to a good start.

Here's a look at how you can catch all the action on Monday.
Date: Monday, May 28

Time: 9 p.m. ET/ 2 a.m. BST (Tuesday, May 29)

TV Info: Fox Sports 1 (U.S.)

Live Stream: BBC Sport Live (UK), Fox Soccer MatchPass (U.S.)Giggs wary of Chicharito

Wales manager Ryan Giggs will know all about Mexico striker Javier Hernandez after the two men played together at Manchester United.

The former United winger spoke highly of the 29-year-old ahead of the game, as noted by Tom Marshall at ESPN FC:Hernandez endured a tough season at West Ham United as the club became engaged in a relegation battle. The Hammers preserved their Premier League status, but the striker managed just eight goals.

He will come up against some familiar faces in the Wales team, and his pace and finishing ability could cause problems.

Wales must cope without Bale

There will be no Gareth Bale for Wales in California as the Real Madrid man was left out of the squad due to his team's participation in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday.

Bale is Wales' talisman, but Giggs' side will have to look for inspiration elsewhere.

The former Old Trafford star has picked a youthful squad and will look to his more experienced players to lead by example.

Aaron Ramsey could be the man to inspire Wales in Bale's absence. Arsenal endured another difficult season as they finished outside the top four again, but the midfielder impressed and scooped the club's individual awards, as shown by James Benge at the Evening Standard:The Mexico national team plays its first World Cup tune-up on Saturday in California when it hosts Wales in an international friendly.

What's at stake?
It's a chance for fringe starting XI players to fight for their spot, and for the stars of the team to show they area ready for the World Cup. This will be against a Garth Bale-less Wales team though, so the level of competition won't be that high.

Prediction
Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio makes plenty of changes, tries out some guys in different positions and takes home a victory where El Tri shows some nice flashes. Mexico will begin their preparations for the World Cup when they play Wales in an international friendly at the Rose Bowl, California.

They are in a tough group for the tournament in Russia, facing Germany, Sweden and South Korea, playing their opening game on June 17 against the holders.

Mexico have made the last 16 in their last six World Cup appearances, but have failed to progress further, but defender Hector Moreno is confident they can go all the way.

"We are going to play the World Cup to win it," the Real Sociedad defender said as Mexico prepare for Monday's game.

"For me the important thing is to get home and not have any regrets. We know that we are not favourites. We know that no one thinks that Mexico will win. I think the Mexican team is ready."

For Wales, they missed out on qualification for the World Cup and will be without star man Gareth Bale for the trip to the USA after he helped Real Madrid to win the Champions League on Saturday.

Even without the forward, Wales captain Ashley Williams is expecting a tough game against Mexico.

"They look very good in and out of possession, so we know it's going to be a very difficult game with them going to the World Cup," he said.

"They'll be looking to play well and impress their manager before the tournament and we all remember how difficult the last game we had against them in New York was."El Tri begin to put the final touches on their World Cup preparations but may be shorthanded at the Rose Bowl because of injuries
The countdown has started. Mexico's World Cup preparations are well underway.

While injuries to key players like Andres Guardado and Hector Moreno, who are expected to recover ahead of the World Cup, and Nestor Araujo, who will not, have brought the mood down, Mexico is ready to start its journey to Russia.

The first friendly of three before the World Cup takes place Monday, with Juan Carlos Osorio's squad taking on Ryan Giggs' Wales in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

Injuries and Rafa Marquez's inability to travel to the United States means Mexico could be shorthanded - specifically in defense - but El Tri will be eager to get things started off on the right foot before heading back to Mexico City to continue preparations.New users can sign up for a free seven-day trial of the live sports streaming service, which can be accessed via iOS, Android, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, Roku and Apple TV as well as on a web browser.
